In an exclusive interview with Collider, DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran revealed that the studio has discussed projects with Alan Ritchson, but none of the conversations have progressed so far. The statement was made during the Clayface promotional campaign.
Safran commented on the conversations with the actor. "We talked about a couple things, but nothing that's come to fruition at this point. I think he's great." When the interviewer highlighted Ritchson's current popularity, the executive added that the actor has more to offer than it appears. "Yeah, but he's just good. I also think there's a lot more depth to him than you might have seen. I think there's more that he can do that people haven't seen."
The potential partnership would mark the actor's return to the DC superhero universe. Ritchson previously played Hank Hall, aka Hawk, in the Titans series, where he formed the Hawk and Dove duo alongside Dawn Granger (Minka Kelly).
The actor had already spoken publicly about his desire to work in the new DC universe. In July, on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he stated that he has great respect for James Gunn and that conversations are ongoing.
During San Diego Comic-Con, he admitted that, although he would love to play Batman, he considers the role unlikely, suggesting that negotiations with the studio are going in a different direction.
