Is 'Encanto' Ever Getting a Sequel? Disney Executive Responds

An Encanto sequel has been long awaited by the fans of Disney's popular animated musical, which introduced the Madrigal family and their magical house to the world. But is it ever happening?

Yvett Merino, a creative executive for Walt Disney Animation Studios, explained in an interview with The Direct that the Oscar-winning feature film still has no continuation confirmed.

"No, but I'm always here for it. 'Encanto is the first film that I produced, and it really holds a very special place in my heart, because it's about a Latino family in the forefront", she said, stating that she would jump right in any opportunity to continue the story.

With a $150 million budget, the film managed to hit $256 million at the worldwide box office and guaranteed an even longer life with the smash hit "We Don't Talk About Bruno" and its outstanding debut at Disney+.

For now, though, fans can await the 'Encanto' themed attraction being build for Disney's Animal Kingdom in Florida. "Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto" will feature a vehicle that will guide riders into different Casita rooms, with "new parts of the Madrigal house you never see in the film" during a "cheerful celebration".
