Chaeyoung is the Second Member to Departure from 'TWICE' Record Label

A few days after fellow member Jeongyeon, singer Chaeyoung became the second member of TWICE to officially announce her departure from JYP Entertainment, the group's label since their debut in 2015.

In a letter to fans posted on her Instagram, Chaeyoung committed to continuing to take part in the group's activities in the future, while also expanding her solo career — officially launched last year with the album LIL FANTASY.

"Hello, this is Chaeyoung.

I wanted to share this first with ONCE, my family who have always been by my side.

I’m very excited to begin a new chapter and bring you my new LIL FANTASY, a world where I can explore and build my music.

I want to sincerely thank everyone at JYP and Team TWICE for believing in me and supporting me over the past 14 years.

And to my TWICE members — who are always my strength and biggest supporters — thank you, and I love you beyond words.

Above all, please know that nothing changes when it comes to TWICE. Everything I have received is thanks to my time as part of TWICE, which will always be my root.

I hope that both Chaeyoung of TWICE and Chaeyoung in LIL FANTASY can continue to create music that brings meaning to you as well.

This is a new challenge for me, and I promise to keep growing so I can become an even better person and artist.

I love you!"

TWICE, which has been active in the K-pop industry since 2015, is responsible for some of the genre's biggest hits, such as "Feel Special" and "I Can't Stop Me".

Over the past few months, the group has been going through its contract renegotiation period with JYP Entertainment. In addition to Jeongyeon and Chaeyoung, members such as Tzuyu and Jihyo may also leave the agency soon.
