In a new interview with The Korea Times, the members of KARD made it clear that the recent announcement of the end of their contract with label DSP Media does not mean the group will completely stop its activities.
"The four of us still want to make music together, but that will would just happen in a new environment," said Jiwoo. "I think the misunderstanding was understandable, but there are no plans for us to say goodbye and part ways entirely".
In its official notice, in fact, KARD’s label mentioned the "conclusion of the group’s activities" and the "next chapters of the members’ solo journeys." The album Where To Now? (Part.2): NOWHERE and the tour that followed it are also being treated by the label’s team as a farewell.
In the interview, J.Seph joked that even his nephew called to ask what was going on with the group. "I explained, like anyone else, I belong to a company, and I'm tied to that company by a contract. The point where that contract ends has simply arrived."
The members of KARD clarified that nothing has been decided yet about a possible comeback, but that they will definitely continue working together — even if not under the same name, since DSP is expected to retain ownership of the KARD brand.
It’s a process that has already happened with K-pop groups such as Brave Girls (after their contract with Brave Entertainment ended in 2023, they became BB Girls) and Beast (which became Highlight in 2017 after splitting from Cube Entertainment).
Formed in 2017, KARD is one of the most successful co-ed groups (with both male and female members) in the K-pop industry. In their nearly ten years together, artists BM, Somin, J.Seph and Jiwoo released hits such as "Don't Recall," "Oh NaNa," "Dumb Litty" and "Hola Hola."
The group has one of the largest Latin American fanbases in the South Korean industry, including in Brazil. In recognition of that success, KARD has toured the country several times — most recently in January 2025, when Omelete took part in a group press interview with them.
