At 32 years old, Ha Young is already close to completing a decade in the k-drama industry (her debut role was in 2019’s Doctor Prisoner). It’s curious, then, that her chance to lead a series has only come now.

In Our Sticky Love, she plays Eun-sae, who wakes up in a hospital in the South Korean countryside with no memory. Before she can make sense of anything, Tae-ha (Jung Hae-in, from Love Next Door) shows up claiming to be her boyfriend. At first, she doesn’t know if she can trust him — and deep down, there’s a very good reason for that.

Omelete Recommends

A curious blend of romantic comedy, mystery, and action, the k-drama is certainly a strong first impression for Ha Young in leading roles. Below, check out what she told Omelete about this new challenge.

OMELETE: Ha Young, you’ve had incredible success with roles in Resident Playbook, The Secret Contract of the Witch, and Study Group. In that context, do you feel that Our Sticky Love is a step forward in your career? What does this project mean to you?

HA: As an actress, this project was definitely a major turning point, since it was my first role as a female lead. I learned a lot throughout this journey. Our Sticky Love opened a completely new chapter in my acting career, so I felt a great deal of responsibility during filming, and I’m also very excited for the premiere.

OMELETE: Our Sticky Love is a mix of romantic comedy, mystery, action... Why do you think these genres work so well together, and what was your reaction when you first read the script?

HA: When I first read the script, I was completely hooked and read it all in one sitting. That happened because, although the series is a blend of romantic comedy, drama, and noir, those elements aren’t isolated; they come together very naturally through the characters and the narrative. I was impressed by the depth of the script.

Our Sticky Love is now available to stream on Netflix.
