Pocketpair has changed its stance regarding bringing Palworld to Nintendo platforms. In a new interview with VGC, the developer's CEO, Takuro Mizobe , stated that the possibility of a port for the Nintendo Switch 2 is indeed being considered—something that seemed unlikely just over a year ago.
The change in discourse mirrors the evolution of the console. In June 2024, before the game's release, Mizobe ruled out a version for the original Switch due to technical limitations.
This vision was reinforced in March 2025 by John Buckley, Pocketpair's communications director, in an interview with IGN. At the time, he described Palworld as "a beefy game" and said that a port for the Switch 2 would be "100% worth considering" if the specifications were powerful enough. Now, with the known hardware capable of running current-generation games, the developer sees room for discussion.
"Of course," Mizobe replied when asked if a port was a real possibility. "First of all, I should say that we think the Switch 2 is a really amazing platform, not just for games globally, but especially here in Japan and for the Japanese games industry. It’s been an incredible platform. If there’s ever a future where we have the opportunity to discuss or consider bringing Palworld to the Switch platform in some way, then we’d love to have those conversations".
Despite the optimism, the road to the Switch 2 is not without obstacles. Pocketpair still needs to deal with the legal dispute against Nintendo . The patent infringement lawsuit, filed in September 2024, was modified in November 2025 to focus on older versions of the game, after the developer released updates removing contested mechanics — such as the ability to throw a Pal Sphere to summon a Pal and gliding flight with Pals.
Although the scope has been reduced, the case remains active. The Tokyo District Court is expected to release its preliminary opinion on the case on November 9. Mizobe could not comment on the matter as the action is ongoing.
