Pokémon UNITE, the MOBA game based on the monster franchise, will be shut down on March 27, 2027. In an official statement, the developers thanked the players who have been with the game until now, and did not give clear reasons for the end of the service.
Due to the announcement, the sale of Aeos Gems has already been halted, although users who still possess the currency in their accounts can continue to spend it. Other types of in-game purchases have also been suspended.
Before the end, there will still be one last competitive tournament in Tokyo, with qualifiers starting on December 5th; for casual players, an event that will grant access to items that were no longer available begins on November 12th.
Furthermore, players who wish to download their account data and use the game's Library feature to relive their time there will have to do so by March 23rd. The content, however, cannot be transferred from one device to another. After that date, downloading this information will be disabled, and players will no longer be able to enter battles or log in.
Released in 2021 for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, Pokémon UNITE was part of the competitive circuit of the Pokémon franchise, but it was already known that its situation was not the best. It had been announced that the tournament at the 2026 World Championship would be the last, indicating a bleak future for the game.
