According to CBS News, a United States Army unit at Fort Stewart, Georgia, is offering a four-day leave to soldiers who reenlist so they can play GTA VI at launch, scheduled for November 19. The incentive, offered exclusively to the 9th Engineer Battalion of the 3rd Infantry Division, has already been chosen by 20 soldiers.
The initiative is part of a reenlistment program that allows service members to choose benefits such as time off, duty station selection, or special training. The 3rd Infantry Division spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Angel Tomko, said the idea is to create "a unique incentive program that connects with soldiers' interests". Eligible soldiers must reenlist for a minimum period of two years.
Although the incentive is not valid for the entire Army, the possibility of expanding it has not been ruled out. The measure aligns with previous Army recruitment strategies, such as creating esports teams and attending gaming conventions to attract young people.
