GTA 6 was hit by a leak in the past few hours, with gameplay videos and information about the map of Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated title circulating on social media. After that, the person responsible for leaking the map and gameplay footage, identified as Cyberleek, spoke out online.

According to information shared by content creator NikTek, Cyberleek said he does not intend to stop until Rockstar releases a statement and an apology, along with a concrete commitment to improve.

In a statement, Cyberleek argued that consumers should not pay for games on digital storefronts before release and before independent reviews are available. In his view, the pre-order system has lost its justification with digital distribution, since “a digital copy can’t sell out.”

The person behind the leak also criticized the practice of offering cosmetic perks as an incentive for early purchases. According to him, if companies want to receive money before launch, they should go back to investing in physical production: “Print boxes. Put them on shelves. Earn that money through physical production.”

A message attributed to Cyberleek also appeared alongside the leaked map with the phrase “Fighting for gamers' rights”. According to information shared by NikTek, Rockstar’s decision to release GTA 6 without a physical copy may have motivated the action.

Finally, it was revealed that it is still unknown whether more leaks are coming, since Cyberleek could have more material from the game in hand.

The leak comes about a week before a new official presentation of the game. It is worth remembering that an extended preview of GTA 6 will be made available by Netflix on August 27.
