Canadian broadcaster Super Channel has officially backed a feature documentary chronicling the three-decade journey of BioWare, the acclaimed studio that redefined interactive storytelling.

Helmed by director Akash Sherman alongside Fennessey Films and Score G Productions, the non-fiction project titled Massive Effect: The BioWare Story examines how a trio of medical graduates built a premier role-playing powerhouse. The narrative traces the company's trajectory from its founding roots through the creation of industry-defining intellectual properties including Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age.

Originally structured as a classic retrospective, the production took an unscripted turn after Electronic Arts confirmed the closure of BioWare mid-filming. Having already spent two years documenting operations, the filmmakers captured the studio's sudden dissolution and the human impact on its staff from inside the building.

The production features candid interviews with original co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk, veteran project leader Casey Hudson, iconic voice artist Jennifer Hale, and ex-EA leadership.

Set to launch on the film festival circuit prior to its broadcast debut, the documentary provides an unfiltered look at both the artistic triumphs and corporate realities that ended BioWare's historic run.
