Anthology series returns to Netflix in September with its first female “monster”
Netflix has released the full trailer for Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, the 4th season of the true crime anthology series created by Ryan Murphy. Watch it above.
The season is set to premiere on September 17 and will have eight episodes telling the story of Lizzie Borden, a woman accused of murdering her father and stepmother with an axe in 1892 in Massachusetts. Despite the brutality of the case, she was acquitted, becoming one of the most well-known figures in American criminal history. The new season promises to revisit the crime with a tone of biting humor and a feminist perspective, while also exploring the alleged relationship between Lizzie and the maid Bridget Sullivan.
Ella Beatty plays Lizzie Borden, while Vicky Krieps portrays Bridget Sullivan, the maid and the protagonist’s main ally. Charlie Hunnam plays businessman Andrew Borden, Lizzie’s father, and Rebecca Hall portrays Abby Borden, the character’s stepmother.
