'Lanterns' Third Episode Draws the Series’ Biggest Audience Yet
Third episode of Lanterns reaches 10 million viewers
Warner Bros. Discovery revealed that the third episode of Lanterns drew the series’ biggest audience so far, with 10 million global viewers in three days—7 million being from the United States. The pilot itself has already amassed more than 20 million viewers worldwide since its August 16 premiere.
These numbers put the DC Studios series ahead of other major HBO Max productions, such as It: Welcome to Derry (27.1 million), The Penguin (19.8 million), and True Detective: Night Country (17.5 million), indicating that the show’s audience continues to grow.
Everything you need to know about Lanterns
The series follows a young John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and a veteran Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) as they get caught up in a dark, earthbound mystery while investigating a murder in the heart of the U.S. It is speculated that the victim will be a member of the Green Lantern Corps, a kind of galactic police force, and that this is how Stewart will receive the ring that gives members of the group the power to create objects made of green light.
The cast also includes Garrett Dillahunt (No Country for Old Men), Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire), Cary Chrisopher (Weapons) and Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol), in addition to Ulrich Thomsen as the villain Sinestro.
Nathan Fillion will appear as Guy Gardner, one of the Green Lanterns – a role he already played on the big screen in Superman. With eight episodes confirmed, the production is led by Damon Lindelof (Lost, Watchmen), Chris Mundy (Ozark), and Tom King.
New episodes of Lanterns are released weekly every Sunday on HBO and HBO Max.
