Jesse Eisenberg is developing a television series for A24. The project, still untitled, will be written, produced, and directed by him. Peter Rice, a former Disney and Fox executive who has just been appointed chief content officer of Netflix, will also serve as executive producer. Julia Brownell (This Is Us) will serve as showrunner.

The series is based on a short story by Eisenberg himself about a young woman whose beliefs are challenged by new ideas and relationships.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter at the London Film Festival, Eisenberg explained that the story takes place in the autumn of 2002 and deals with the beginning of the culture wars, following an 18-year-old girl. It is unclear whether the story in question is "Harper Jablonski," present in the 2016 collection Bream Gives Me Hiccups.

Eisenberg comes from the release of The Big Premiere, an A24 film starring Julianne Moore, which he wrote and directed. In film, he won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for A Different Man (2024) and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for The Social Network .

Netflix is expected to enter the bidding war for the series, as the platform already hosts other A24 productions, such as Beef and the spy thriller starring Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour.

The expectation is that the project will be offered to the market in the coming weeks. Despite Rice's new position at Netflix, he is not expected to have direct involvement in the production, but should retain executive producer credit for having developed the project.
