According to People magazine, the cause of death of Tim Curry, most known for his role in Rocky Horror Picture Show, was coronary artery disease. The actor passed away last week at the age of 80, and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health also listed a history of stroke and kidney cancer as contributing factors.

Curry suffered a nearly fatal stroke in 2012, when two blood clots were found in his brain, and he underwent emergency surgery. The stroke left the left side of his body paralyzed, and he began using a wheelchair. Although he regained his voice after a year of rehabilitation, he devoted the rest of his career primarily to voice acting.

In September 2025, during a 50th anniversary screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Curry spoke about his limitations: "I still can’t walk, which is why I’m in this silly chair, and that’s very limiting. So I won’t be singing or dancing anytime soon. I still have real problems with my left leg."

In an interview with Ben Mankiewicz last year, he said: "I’m not afraid of death. I suspect that, in the end, I’ll welcome it. I may even embrace it."

Curry’s last credited role was in the 2024 horror film Stream. He had filmed scenes for the sequel, Stream 2: Sudden Death, which will be dedicated to him, according to director Michael Leavy
