Minecraft Legend Technoblade to Get a Documentary Film
The film will revisit the journey of one of the biggest names in the Minecraft community, known for the iconic crowned pig avatar that won over millions of fans.
Technoblade, one of the biggest and most popular Minecraft content creators, is getting a feature-length documentary about his life and journey on the internet. He passed away in 2022 at the age of 23, the victim of metastatic sarcoma, a type of cancer.
Titled Technoblade Never Dies, the film will be produced by Candle True Stories with funding from Riot Games and Hypixel Studios, and will be made in collaboration with the creator’s family.
Directed by Steven Lake, the documentary will bring together personal footage, hundreds of hours of videos published by Technoblade, and testimonies from family members, friends, and fans to tell the story of Alex, the creator’s real name, and the impact of his work on the Minecraft community. The project will also explore the relationship built between the influencer and his millions of followers, especially after his death.
Technoblade began posting Minecraft videos as a teenager and reached 10 million YouTube subscribers in 2021. His channel currently has nearly 23 million subscribers. After his death, more than 400,000 messages from fans were gathered in a virtual memorial inside the game.
Technoblade Never Dies is currently in production and does not yet have a release date or distributor. The plan is to premiere the film at a major festival, followed by a theatrical run and, later, a wider release.
Riot Games and Hypixel Studios also said they will donate the profits generated by the film to charitable organizations.
