Producer Rob "RW" Williams has joined forces with Brazilian filmmakers Davi Kinski, Thales Calazans Boscoli, and Titi Mattos to create Singular Films. The new independent production company will develop and produce films for a global audience, aiming to connect Brazilian talent with funding, production, and distribution opportunities in Brazil, North America, Europe, and Africa.
The studio's first project is Hearts in a Trance, written and directed by Kinski. The feature film stars Ícaro Silva and Luísa Michelett , and is produced by Williams, Boscoli, and Mattos. The plot follows three characters who participate in a documentary experiment and addresses themes such as desire, power, and surveillance.
The screenplay has already received the Best Original Screenplay award at the New York Movie Awards and the Best LGBTQIA+ Screenplay award at the Indian Independent Film Festival. It was also a finalist at the Cannes Script Festival, the Hollywood Stage Script Film Festival, and the Oxford Script Festival.
Williams has a solid career in Hollywood, with credits in films such as G20 and The Woman King, both starring Viola Davis, as well as The Aviator. He was also an executive producer on Amazon Studios' Silver Dollar Road. His base in Los Angeles will help the production company connect with partners in the United States and Africa, while the Brazilians handle the networks in Brazil and Europe.
The company will prioritize projects guided by the filmmakers' vision, international co-productions, and strategic partnerships.
