Sadie Sink’s Character in 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Revealed in Livestream

With one day to go before the film’s theatrical release, a Sony Pictures host revealed Sadie Sink’s character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day to the world, and it doesn’t seem like it was planned. The information came out on the movie’s red carpet in Los Angeles, when host Steve Lacy confirmed that the Stranger Things actress is, in fact, playing the mutant Jean Grey in the story.

Judging by the reaction of his co-host during the event broadcast, which was streamed live worldwide, Lacy did something they had been instructed not to do. Either way, it happened at an official Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures event. Watch the moment below.

Still, it doesn’t come as a huge surprise. Despite the secrecy maintained by the studios and the actress, Sink had been reported as Jean Grey, an important member of the X-Men, even before being cast in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day opens in theaters on July 31.
