'Upgraded 2', With Camila Mendes, Begins Filming in Venice

Just over a week after the sequel was announced, filming has begun on Upgraded 2, which will see the return of Camila Mendes. The production of the Amazon MGM Studios sequel that is taking place in Venice is also starring Leslie Bibb alongside Mendes.

Mendes returns to the franchise as Ana Santos, an intern at a New York auction house who pretends to hold a higher position after being promoted to first class on a flight to London. During the trip, she impresses William, a wealthy young Englishman with connections in the high-society art market, played by Archie Renaux.

In the sequel, described as a modern retelling of Cinderella , Ana seeks to conquer her place at the Venice Biennale, the world's oldest international exhibition of contemporary art. Filming began on October 21st and includes locations such as the terrace of Ca' Giustinian, the Biennale's headquarters overlooking the Grand Canal, the Palazzo Franchetti, and the Moro Venice restaurant. Details about Leslie Bibb's character have not yet been released.

Becca Gleason takes over directing duties, replacing Carlson Young, who directed the first film. Luke Roberts and Justin Matthews, screenwriters of the original film, also wrote the script for the sequel.

The film will be released worldwide on Prime Video, but a release date has not yet been announced.
