Mark Ruffalo Slams Warner-Paramount Merger and Ellison Family

Actor Mark Ruffalo took to social media to criticize the merger between Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery. In an Instagram post, the actor shared a video of Oracle executive Safra Catz commenting on technologies used to assist the Israeli military, and linked the issue to the merger, claiming that Oracle, led by Larry Ellison, would finance the acquisition by his son, David Ellison.

Ruffalo wrote that the technologies mentioned by Catz "will likely be folded into one of the largest media conglomerates in the world and one day used against you"

He also questioned why former President Trump would have "pushed this illegal merger through" and warned about the loss of 4,500 direct jobs and another 10,000 indirect jobs in the film industry, as well as rising cable TV costs.

The actor, who has previously spoken out against the merger and against the war in Gaza, said that 12 state attorneys general are suing to block the deal, which he called "catastrophic for our film industry". "Mergers like this are almost always bad for workers, consumers, and the industry", he wrote.

"This is the company Larry Ellison is using to finance his son David's acquisition of Warner Bros.

These 'really deeply frightening technologies' will likely be folded into one of the largest media conglomerates in the world and one day used against you. See how she revels in what we now recognize as a genocide, built on a system of apartheid oppression powered by Oracle.

There's an old saying: 'The way you do one thing is the way you do everything.'

From one of the biggest tech companies in the world. Powering some of the most destructive and inhumane forces in the world. Why did Trump force this illegal merger through?

Larry Ellison will own most of 'Para Bros.' Larry is a classic oligarch. They are crushing workers and consolidating the world's wealth for their own concentrated power and dominance.

We have a chance to stop this. There are 12 state attorneys general suing to block this merger. It will be catastrophic for our film industry.

There will be a loss of 4,500 direct jobs in film production and the loss of another 10,000 support jobs. Mergers like this are almost always bad for workers, consumers, and the industries they tend to dominate. It's a classic antitrust case.

This will raise the cost of cable TV and flatten competition. That means fewer choices for our audience. It also concentrates an enormous amount of creative control in companies that say and do things like this strange woman from Oracle.

Truly deeply frightening people."
