Hayden Panettiere: Cause of Death Officially Confirmed

More than a month after her death and the start of investigations into the case, the cause of Hayden Panettiere 's death has been officially confirmed. According to the Greenville County Medical Examiner's Office in South Carolina, the actress died due to the toxic effects of fentanyl and other substances. The death was classified as accidental .

According to the coroner's report, fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol, and quetiapine were identified in the actress's system.

Panettiere died on August 16, at the age of 36. She was found unconscious in an apartment in Greenville, and emergency crews attempted resuscitation before confirming her death at the scene.

Best known for her roles as Claire Bennet in Heroes and Juliette Barnes in Nashville , Panettiere also played Kirby Reed in Scream 4 , Scream (2022), and Scream VI (2023).
