In an interview with E! News, Ewan McGregor said he is ready to reprise the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in new Star Wars productions. The actor said he wants "to spend the rest of his career" telling the character’s stories, but that Disney has not yet hinted at any new projects.

"I'm ready when they are," McGregor said. "They just don't seem to be ready, but I'm willing. At the end of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, I'm walking off into the desert, I've decided to leave. I realized I can't keep the pressure on Luke. I realized he needs to have his own childhood, so I leave him with Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. And I go away... and Qui-Gon is back. And we go off... but where are we going? And then, the next time we meet Obi-Wan Kenobi, he's Alec Guinness up there in the mountains."

"What happens between those two moments is what I want to do and spend the rest of my career telling those stories. Stories, whether series or movies. We have plenty of time; I have 10 years before I reach Alec Guinness's age. So come on, Disney!", the actor concluded.

With Obi-Wan Kenobi, released in 2022, McGregor returned to the role 15 years after Revenge of the Sith, alongside Hayden Christensen

Despite the success, Disney has scaled back production of live-action Star Wars series in recent years, which casts doubt on a possible second season. The original idea was a trilogy of films, but the plan was scrapped when Disney+ became the company's priority.

The performance of Star Wars: Starfighter, set for next year, could influence future film projects.
