Paramount Pictures has announced the release of the remake of Possession, set to premiere on June 11, 2027. Directed by Parker Finn (Smile), the film is a new take on the 1981 supernatural thriller directed by Andrzej Żuławski.
The cast includes Callum Turner, Margaret Qualley, Diego Calva, Madeline Brewer, Emory Cohen, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, and Paul Dano. Robert Pattinson is also producing alongside Finn, Jonathan Fass, Roy Lee, and Andrew Childs.
The feature, with a script written by Finn himself, opens the same week as Universal’s live-action How to Train Your Dragon 2.
The original film, starring Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neill, followed a woman going through a divorce who begins to display bizarre behavior. Although it was not a commercial success at the time, the film went on to become a cult classic.
Finn, who made his directorial debut with Smile (2022) — a film that grossed $217 million worldwide on a $17 million budget — also directed the sequel in 2024.
The project with Pattinson was announced in 2024 by The Hollywood Reporter, following a bidding war between studios for the rights.
