According to information from Semafor, Elon Musk invested approximately US$1 billion in Skydance, a financial injection as the company seeks to cut costs and raise its share price.

The deal was finalized around the same time as investments from other shareholders, including board member Laurene Powell Jobs . Semafor had already reported in September that Paramount was considering seeking a capital injection from Musk.

Musk publicly praised the Ellison brothers and Skydance, which fueled speculation about a broader partnership between Starlink, his low-Earth orbit satellite network, and the studio. "He's going to have to re-engineer all those channels and figure out how they turn into streams, instead of just traditional linear. I think there's a deal coming," said billionaire cable TV executive John Malone on Tuesday (21), during an event at the Paley Center.

Malone also drew a line between the past and the present. "Who helped Elon fund Twitter when he bought it? Larry Ellison. How did Larry Ellison get some of the money to invest in creating Skydance? Tesla stock. And I have no doubt that, very soon, you will see an announcement."
