Disney Cuts Hundreds in New Layoffs; Pixar Hit Hard

Pixar Animation Studios, the company behind hits like Toy Story, Inside Out, and The Incredibles, was the division hit hardest by the latest round of layoffs carried out by Disney this Tuesday (21).

A company spokesperson confirmed that hundreds of employees are being let go across different areas of the conglomerate, including the film studios, ESPN, Disney Entertainment Television, and National Geographic.

At Pixar, the cuts are mainly affecting the production and operations departments. According to sources connected to the studio, the move follows Disney’s strategy of reducing the volume of productions and focusing efforts on theatrical releases, prioritizing quality over quantity. This is the company’s latest major wave of layoffs in 2026: in April, around 1,000 employees had already been let go in areas such as marketing, technology, products, and corporate departments.
