Hell is shaking: DC Studios is developing a new Constantine movie, featuring a character who operates on the supernatural side of the superhero universe, battling demons in more mature stories. According to Deadline, director Francis Galluppi will helm this new project.
Gallupi is responsible for directing Evil Dead Wrath, the new film in the Evil Dead horror franchise, which hits theaters in April 2027. His Constantine film, the publication states, is still in the early stages of development.
This is the second Constantine project currently in development. While Gallupi's film would likely be set in the current DC Universe, there's also a parallel storyline that would continue the story from the 2005 film starring Keanu Reeves.
Constantine 2 has been in development for several years, and Reeves, as well as director Francis Lawrence, have reportedly met with DC to make the project happen. Despite the script supposedly being finished , there has been no official announcement regarding the film's production.
John Constantine, also known as Hellblazer, is a supernatural investigator from DC Comics who deals with the mystical and dark side of the universe, confronting demons, monsters, and infernal creatures. Always living dangerously and addicted to cigarettes, Constantine stars in more adult and cynical stories.
