Netflix released a report detailing the viewership of films and series in the first half of 2026. HUNTR/X proved they are here to stay in the audience’s memory: having recently marked one year since its release, K-Pop Demon Hunters established itself as the 4th most-watched film on the platform in 2026 so far.
According to the What We Watched report, the animated film logged 130.4 million views between January and June of this year, trailing only War Machine, Suspicious Money, and the animated film Spellbound. The performance is especially impressive considering the movie was released on June 20, 2025, and is still drawing millions of viewers even a year after its debut.
The success, however, did not happen overnight. In Netflix’s first report, covering the first half of 2025, K-Pop Demon Hunters appeared only in 31st place, with 36.7 million views in its first ten days. In the following report, covering the period from July to December 2025, the animated film shot up to 1st place, driven by positive reviews and strong word of mouth on social media.
In total, K-Pop Demon Hunters has already amassed 648.7 million views on Netflix, making it the most-watched film in the platform’s history.
Everything about K-Pop Demon Hunters
Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, K-Pop Demon Hunters follows the journey of the members of the fictional group HUNTR/X. In the story, when the artists are not selling out arenas and breaking records on the music charts, they take on secret identities to hunt demons and protect their fans from supernatural threats — including a rival boy band made up of disguised creatures of darkness.
In the English voice cast, Ejae sings as Rumi, leader of HUNTR/X, while Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami complete the group as Mira and Zoey, respectively. They share the roles with actresses Arden Cho (Rumi), May Hong (Mira), and Ji-young Yoo (Zoey), who provide the characters’ speaking voices.
The film became a huge hit on Netflix from the moment it was released, eventually reaching the top of the platform’s all-time most-watched feature films list — and later, its most-watched content overall. "Golden," "Your Idol," "Soda Pop," and other songs from the soundtrack charted in the U.S. and around the world.
K-Pop Demon Hunters also proved to be an awards season darling, winning trophies at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards, the 2026 Grammys, the 2026 Golden Globes, and the 2026 Oscars. The success has a sequel in pre-production, with a planned release in 2029.
