The success of The East Palace on Netflix has put Nam Joo-hyuk back in the spotlight — and he seems to be making the most of it by taking on several different projects.
One of them is Code, a Disney+ production directed by Yoo Soo-min (Weak Hero Class). Nam has been confirmed in the cast as Yoon Tae-joo, an ambitious lawyer who gets entangled with a fraudulent — and potentially supernatural — app.
Lee Yi-dam (The Queen Who Crowns), Kim Eui-sung (Taxi Driver) and Park Hoon (Bloodhounds) round out the cast. Disney+ announced the premiere for 2027.
Meanwhile, the other Nam Joo-hyuk project in the pipeline is Heartbeat, a melodrama about a woman whose life is turned upside down when she unexpectedly meets a young man (Nam) who has the exact same face as her late first love.
Written by Lee Si-eun (True Beauty, Lovely Runner), Heartbeat also has Han So-hee (Gyeongseong Creature) in talks for the female lead role.
Its premiere is also set for 2027, though there is still no confirmation of distribution in Brazil.
