Pokémon Company Sued After Director Hid Cameras in Bathrooms

Pokémon Company International, the U.S.-based branch of the company, is being sued by an anonymous woman. Identified only as Jane Doe — a generic name commonly used in the country —, she accuses Ben Tsai, former engineering director, of hiding cameras in bathrooms and filming women and children with the intent of distributing the footage. The lawsuit states that TPCI was negligent in the director’s training and made no effort to control his actions.

This is not the first accusation against Tsai, who left The Pokémon Company in January after being accused of voyeurism. He was also accused of possessing sexually explicit videos involving minors, and the same hidden-camera modus operandi had already been used in a store and in his own home. On top of all that, local police had already found hundreds of videos containing nudity involving adults and children in his possession.

Despite all this history, Tsai’s attorney says he maintains that he is innocent of all charges. Jane Doe’s lawyer, meanwhile, questions the accused’s intentions:

“When you look at someone who has been charged with this extensive amount of voyeurism and misconduct, it seems doubtful that all of this was just for personal use and that there was no distribution,” said Alex Dietz.
