It’s not exactly a huge secret, but Fallout 5 has been officially announced by Bethesda. In a major social media post, the studio confirmed that the game is in pre-production, but didn’t share much more information about the franchise’s next chapter.

Still on Fallout, Bethesda also confirmed long-standing expectations that both Fallout 3 and New Vegas would receive remakes in the future, without giving any dates. Finally, it also added that Obsidian, the studio acclaimed for New Vegas, is working on a new spin-off in the series.

Among other updates, the developer mentioned that The Elder Scrolls 6 is continuing to progress well, and that the development team is playing the game every day. The game is currently Bethesda’s main focus, but it still does not have a release window. Much of the delay surrounding the game, which was announced in 2018, is tied to the production of Creation Engine 3, the studio’s new graphics engine.

It was also promised that Fallout 76 will receive a major DLC titled Raven Rock, and that it will tell the events leading up to Fallout 3. Starfield will continue receiving new content, with the Starborn DLC now confirmed after being speculated about by fans for some time. Finally, Elder Scrolls Online will continue getting new seasons.

This wave of news comes right after the hundreds of layoffs that affected Xbox. The company likely went public to show that, despite the difficulties, Bethesda is still operating as it should, giving fans something to stay optimistic about regarding the future.
