DC Announces 'Batman of Two Worlds' Story With the Hero’s Mainline and Absolute Versions

DC Comics has announced a special edition of Batman of Two Worlds #1 to celebrate Batman Day 2026. The one-shot, set to be released on September 19 in participating comic shops around the world, brings together two Batman stories, uniting the classic Dark Knight and the Absolute Universe version in a single special issue.

The first story is written by Matt Fraction with art by Javi Fernández, colors by Tomeu Morey, and letters by Clayton Cowles. The second story, featuring Batman from the Absolute Universe, is written by Scott Snyder with art by Nick Derington, colors by Frank Martin, and letters by Tom Napolitano.

In a statement, Fraction said: "You have two different visions of Batman. The moral, ethical, political frameworks. A chance to place them side by side and see the similarities and differences." Snyder said the idea was to highlight what makes each version of the hero unique: "The mission was to show what is special about each interpretation. Both stories are about Batman’s sense of justice."

The issue’s cover is by Jorge Jiménez, Nick Dragotta, and Frank Martin, bringing together the two versions of the hero.
