'X-Men ’97' Season 2 Episode Brings Back a Dead Character

The sixth episode of X-Men '97 season two became available on Disney+ this Wednesday (22), and it brought a major surprise in its final moments, especially for fans of the team led by Professor Xavier.

The latest episode showed Professor Xavier creating X-Corporation to operate as a company that defends the rights of mutants on Earth. It serves as an extension of the X-Men in other countries, and its first mission is to deal with the threat of the villain Apocalypse.

After the first meeting of X-Corporation members, the series takes us to Athens, Greece, where Apocalypse appears experimenting on an unidentified person. He seems to be changing the body and mind of his test subject, whose identity begins to emerge little by little through shadows and the appearance of playing cards.

In the episode’s final scene, it is revealed that Apocalypse’s test subject is actually Gambit, the hero and X-Men member who was killed in the Genosha massacre depicted in the first season. Although it is not explicitly stated, the general audience expectations are focused on the character becoming one of Apocalypse’s Horsemen.

Season 2 is now streaming on Disney+. In addition, the animated series has already been renewed for a third season, slated for 2027.
