According to exclusive information from Deadline, Scott Bakula may return to CBS in a new procedural. The actor, known for NCIS: New Orleans, would star in and executive produce the project, which is still untitled and in early development at the network.
The series is described as a high-concept detective procedural set in Los Angeles. The script and executive production are handled by Michael Sussman, co-creator of Perception , who also worked on Star Trek: Enterprise, one of the landmark series in Bakula's career. The character description plays on another classic series starring the actor: he would be quite a "leap" compared to the role he played in NCIS: New Orleans, a reference to Quantum Leap.
The project comes from Dean Devlin's Electric Entertainment and marks the production company's first foray into broadcast television. Bakula has an extensive career in television. In addition to seven seasons on NCIS: New Orleans, he starred in Quantum Leap and Star Trek: Enterprise, and was part of the main cast of the TNT comedy-drama Men of a Certain Age.
He has five Emmy nominations, four for Quantum Leap and one for the HBO television film Behind the Candelabra. His next project is the Netflix hockey drama The Sticks.
