'Only Murders in the Building' Season 6 Casts 'Doctor Who' Actor

The series Only Murders in the Building has added a new recurring cast member for season 6. It’s Peter Capaldi, best known for playing the 12th Doctor in Doctor Who.

The actor will appear in the London-set storyline, marking the first time the series leaves New York to follow Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) in a new mystery.

Capaldi joins what is shaping up to be a true Doctor Who reunion in the new season. David Tennant, who played the 10th and 14th Doctor, and Jodie Whittaker, the 13th Doctor, are also in the cast, along with Jim Broadbent, who portrayed an alternate version of the 11th Doctor in The Curse of Fatal Death.

Production on season 6 of Only Murders in the Building is continuing in the United Kingdom, with names like Nicola Coughlan, Martin Freeman, Richard Ayoade, Simone Ashley, Sharon Horgan, Derek Jacobi, and Jennifer Saunders also on board.

Recapping Only Murders in the Building

The series, created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman, follows Charles, Oliver, and Mabel, three residents of the Arconia building who share an obsession with criminal cases. What begins as an interest in true crime podcasts quickly turns into real investigations, leading the trio to solve murders happening around them while documenting everything on their own show.

SPOILER: At the end of season 5, the trio follows the latest podcast by Cinda Canning, centered on a mysterious red-haired woman accused of murdering a member of the British royal family. According to the story, she had been sent to the United States for protection after the scandal. Shortly afterward, a red-haired woman appears wounded at the Arconia gates, but the big twist reveals that it is actually Cinda herself, the victim of an attack tied to the case she was investigating.
