Tom Cruise Voices Support for Warner-Paramount Merger

Tom Cruise came out in support of the merger between Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount. In an interview with The Pat McAfee Show, the Mission: Impossible and Top Gun star praised David Ellison, Paramount’s CEO, for promising to increase production to 30 films a year if the deal goes through.
“I think it’s amazing. It’s a community to me. It’s not an industry. The people at these studios aren’t just studio people. They’re my family,” he said.
The statement comes as the $111 billion merger faces resistance from organizations, politicians, and Hollywood stars, as well as an antitrust battle in the United States.
Even amid the uncertainty surrounding the deal, Cruise expressed optimism about the future of cinema and reiterated his confidence that the promise of 30 films a year will be fulfilled. He also argued that Hollywood should come together to help produce the new films: “It won’t just be Paramount doing this. Everyone will need the help of every artist to make this possible. We need to help one another to make it happen,” he concluded.
