Kathryn Newton in Talks to Star in Comedy 'Old Friends New Friends'

According to exclusive information from Deadline, Kathryn Newton is in talks to join the cast of Old Friends New Friends, a new comedy from Focus Features directed by Mike Birbiglia. Details about the actress’s role have not yet been revealed.

The film, which is expected to begin shooting in the fall, marks Birbiglia’s return to directing after a decade, following Don't Think Twice and Sleepwalk with Me. Newton joins Lucas Hedges, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Geraldine Viswanathan, and Dylan Gelula, who were previously announced.

The story follows a close-knit group of college friends who travel to a summer camp for an old friend’s wedding, only to discover that he has built a new life with new friends, forcing the group to confront what they have lost, who they have become, and whether growing up means growing apart.

Birbiglia directs from his own screenplay and produces alongside Jacob Jaffke and Joe Hartwick for Oddball Entertainment.
