Narnia: The Magician's Nephew , by Greta Gerwig , continues to receive new previews little by little from Netflix and Empire magazine. After revealing the first glimpse of Aslan, a new photo once again highlights Emma Mackey as Jadis, the future White Witch. Check it out below.

In the plot, Jadis has long been trapped in the kingdom of Charn when she crosses paths with Polly (Beatrice Campbell) and Digory (David McKenna). Mackey told Empire that she was immediately interested in the character and highlighted a description from the script: "pure chaos and bad plans." For the actress, Jadis arrives in Polly and Digory's world as an unexpected and difficult-to-ignore presence.

The character's look also follows Greta Gerwig's more extravagant approach, influenced by British rock from the 1960s and 1970s. The director has already revealed that she envisioned the film as a kind of "rock opera," although the production is not a musical.

Mackey explained that the costume needed to convey a mix of “fun” and menace, like someone who seems fascinating to children but also causes unease and fear: “We needed that duality: fun, which is what children see – a bright and exciting person – but also, ‘Wow, you’re a little scary, and I really don’t know how to dance with you’”.

One of the most important figures in all of C.S. Lewis's work, Aslan is the ultimate authority in Narnia and its rightful guardian – and now he gets his first official look in the new version.

Everything you need to know about Greta Gerwig's Narnia

Gerwig's film will adapt The Magician's Nephew, a book that narrates the events of the Narnia universe before Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy (the protagonists of the original film trilogy) were even born.

The plot follows the boy Gregory (newcomer David McKenna) and his neighbor Polly (Beatrice Campbell) as they enter a magical forest that leads to other worlds.

The cast of the production also includes Emma Mackey (Sex Education) as Jadis, the White Witch – a role played by Tilda Swinton in the previous films –, Carey Mulligan (Maestro), Denise Gough (Andor), and Daniel Craig (007). The film's theatrical release will also be sponsored by IMAX, meaning that giant screen theaters will have priority when showing Gerwig's film.

Narnia: The Magician's Nephew premieres on Netflix on April 2, 2027, but will spend almost two months in theaters beforehand.
