The early death of Hayden Panettiere, star of Scream and Heroes, has shaken the film industry and resonated among castmates and major Hollywood figures.
Names such as David Arquette, Melissa Barrera, Viola Davis, Selma Blair, Rose O’Donnell, and Bethany Joy Lenz took to social media to pay tribute to the artist.
Arquette, who played Dewey in the Scream franchise, wrote: “I love you, Hayden”. Barrera, who appeared alongside Panettiere in Scream VI, posted: “Rest in peace, sweet Hayden”.
Selma Blair, who had a role in Scream 2, mourned: “I love you. Don’t be gone. Please”.
Viola Davis, who worked with the actress on The Architect and Custody, highlighted her “incredible talent” and said she loved working with her: “an old and wise soul, with such a deep heart. I wish the world had had more time with you, because I was deeply curious about who you were becoming. I saw this beautiful phoenix rising from the ashes.”
Rose O’Donnell also said she was “heartbroken”, while Bethany Joy Lenz shared a long message recalling the time she met Panettiere when she was still a child and praising her intelligence and talent in front of the camera.
Podcaster Jay Shetty, who interviewed Panettiere a few months ago, also commented: “I can’t believe it. Our friendship had just begun, and I was deeply moved by the conversation we had earlier this year. My love and condolences to her family and fans.”
