The feature will be the first big-budget live-action adaptation of the famous Japanese franchise and will star Sydney Sweeney and Noah Centineo in the lead roles, playing rival mecha pilots amid a war between Earth and its space colonies. Produced by Legendary in partnership with Bandai Namco Filmworks, the film promises an original story inspired by themes from Romeo and Juliet, blending large-scale battles with a strong focus on character drama.
