'Godzilla Minus Zero' Will be the Franchise's First R-Rated Film

Godzilla Minus Zero, the sequel to Godzilla Minus One (2023), received an R (Restricted) rating in the United States, meaning it is suitable for viewers 17 and older, due to "violent content and bloody images."

The film thus becomes the first in the franchise to receive this rating from the MPA. In comparison, the previous films, Godzilla, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire, received a PG-13 rating (unsuitable for children under 13).

In Brazil, the official age rating has not yet been released. It is expected that the film will receive a rating between 16 and 18 years, in line with the age rating set in the United States.

Everything about Godzilla Minus Zero

Set in 1949, two years after the events of the previous film, Godzilla Minus Zero follows the Shikishima family as Japan attempts to rebuild after World War II and faces a new threat. Godzilla Minus Zero opens in theaters on November 6.

Directed and written by Takashi Yamazaki, the film, it's worth noting, is the first Japanese production filmed for IMAX, using high-definition digital cameras certified by the technology.
