James Gunn Says Batman's Look in 'The Brave and the Bold' Isn't Defined Yet

James Gunn revealed that the Batman suit for the new DC Universe (DCU) has not yet been designed. The statement was made on social media after a fan asked if the hero's uniform would have the same texture as Superman's suit, played by David Corenswet. "The Batman suit hasn't been designed yet," the filmmaker replied.

The question came in the same post where Gunn released the first official image of the animated series Mister Miracle. The fan then took the opportunity to ask five questions about DC Studios projects, and the executive answered them all.

The Brave and the Bold will focus on Damian Wayne, Bruce's son. The story is inspired by Grant Morrison's Batman run, when Bruce Wayne discovers Wayne's existence before he becomes the new Robin.

This will be a fresh start for the Dark Knight within the new DC Universe, so we won't see Ben Affleck or Michael Keaton returning to the role. Robert Pattinson will continue playing Bruce Wayne in the universe of The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, and its sequel remains in development at Warner Bros. It will take place on a separate timeline from the main universe overseen by James Gunn.

Known as the Dynamic Duo, Batman and Robin are the most popular hero-sidekick pairing in comics. In DC Comics, Bruce Wayne is regularly accompanied by a protégé and possible successor. The best-known version of the Boy Wonder is Dick Grayson, who in the comics eventually becomes Nightwing and has even taken Bruce's place after his death.

In The Brave and the Bold, however, Robin will be Damian Wayne, the fourth boy to take on the role after Grayson, Jason Todd, and Tim Drake. As the name suggests, Wayne is Bruce Wayne's son, and his mother is Talia al Ghul, daughter of the villain Ra's Al Ghul, leader of the League of Shadows.
