Alan Ritchson to Star in MotoGP Movie Tied to the Fast & Furious Universe

According to an exclusive report from Deadline, Netflix and Alan Ritchson have signed a first-look deal for a long-term partnership, following the success of War Machine on the platform.

The first project under the new pact is an untitled heist thriller set in the world of MotoGP, with Ritchson attached to star and produce, and a script by Chris Morgan (of the Fast & Furious franchise).

The story follows a MotoGP prodigy recruited by Interpol to capture a gang of motorcycle thieves who steal antiques around the world. The conflict intensifies when he discovers that the group’s leader may be his younger brother, believed dead for years. The project was pitched to Netflix executives as "Fast & Furious with motorcycles", which excited the studio due to Morgan and producer Jeff Kirschenbaum’s experience with the Universal franchise.

In addition to Ritchson, the production includes Ainsley Morgan (Chris Morgan Productions), Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum (RK Films). MotoGP has also signed on to consult on the film, supporting its development.

The partnership with Netflix comes after War Machine made the platform’s list of most popular films, with 139.9 million views in its first 91 days.

Under the new deal, Ritchson will star in and produce a series of feature films for Netflix, including the already announced Maelstrom, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Carry-On), in which he plays a federal marshal protecting a drug trafficker’s fiancée during a hurricane. The actor is also developing an unscripted survival competition series for the platform in partnership with Bunim/Murray Productions.
