New James Bond Actor Could be Chosen This Year, Producer Suggests
Tests have already been conducted to determine who will take on the role of the most famous spy in cinema.

The new James Bond will be decided later this year. That’s what producer Amy Pascal, known for Barbie and Spider-Man, and now attached to the next 007 film, suggested.
Last month, director Denis Villeneuve (Dune) and the producers’ preferred candidates returned for a second round of testing. Now, Pascal has given us some clues that talks have moved forward.
"I’d say before the end of the year is a good bet," she told Deadline. "We’re being really, really methodical. Having worked with Barbara Broccoli at the studio [Sony], I mean, Daniel Craig is a hard act to follow. And it's got to be something really different that is a stirring and exciting and different."

With more than 20 films released since the 1960s, 007 is one of the longest-running franchises in cinema. From the beginning, the Broccoli family has shepherded the character and his films—first with Cubby Broccoli, founder of Eon, and then with his children Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.
In 2025, however, the Broccolis decided to sell creative control of the character to Amazon MGM Studios for a reported $1 billion. Within Amazon, Amy Pascal, producer of the Spider-Man films, and David Heyman, who produced the Harry Potter adaptations, were chosen as the producers who will oversee the brand.
It is still unknown when the new James Bond film will be released, let alone who will take on the role of Agent 007. The director, however, will be Denis Villeneuve (Sicario, Dune), and the screenplay is being handled by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders).
