France Is Getting a 'Dragon Ball' Theme Park — Here’s What to Expect

France and Saudi Arabia have signed an agreement to build three theme parks on the outskirts of Paris, with an investment of $7 billion, one of them entirely dedicated to the world of Dragon Ball Z.

The announcement was made during the official visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the Élysée Palace this Monday (24). According to French President Emmanuel Macron, the project will be “something not seen since Disneyland Paris”.

The complex will be built in Cergy-Pontoise, about 30 kilometers northwest of Paris, on the site of the former Mirapolis park, which closed 35 years ago. The project is being led by Qiddiya Investment Company, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund (PIF), the same company behind a Dragon Ball park currently under construction in Saudi Arabia itself.

The idea, according to Macron’s advisers, came from a conversation between the two leaders in December 2024, in Riyadh, when they discovered a “shared passion” for manga and, “in particular, for Dragon Ball Z”. The choice of Cergy-Pontoise took into account its connectivity to the Paris metropolitan area and its proximity to Disneyland.

In addition to the Dragon Ball theme park, the project includes two other amusement parks, whose themes have not yet been disclosed. There is still no expected date for the start of construction or for the opening of the complex, which will be built in phases over the coming years.
