'Fairy Tail' Creator Says He’s Developing a New Story

Hiro Mashima, creator of Fairy Tail, has announced that he is developing ideas for a new manga. In a social media post, the mangaka said he is "thinking about ideas for a new work, but my own series have become my biggest rival".

The announcement surprised fans, since Mashima is already responsible for multiple works at the same time – including the sequel Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, which is still ongoing.

Although no details about the new project have been revealed yet, the news comes amid uncertainty in the anime world. Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, which had its anime adaptation produced by studio J.C. Staff, finished airing in 2025, and so far there is no confirmation of new episodes to cover the manga’s additional chapters. The same is true for Edens Zero, whose anime stopped in 2023, and Dead Rock, which has not yet received an adaptation announcement.

Despite the silence surrounding the return of the anime adaptations, Mashima remains active in manga and thanked fans for their support throughout his career, which now spans more than two decades.
