'The Intern' to Get a Korean Remake with 'Oldboy' Actor; Learn More

The 2015 dramedy The Intern is getting a South Korean remake starring Choi Min-sik (Oldboy) and Han So-hee (My Name). Check out the film’s first trailer above, and the second one further below.

Choi takes on the role played by Robert De Niro in the Hollywood production: a man in his seventies who decides to fight the boredom of retirement the only way he knows how—by finding a new job.

He ends up hired as an intern at a fashion start-up, run by Han So-hee’s indomitable character, and the two unexpectedly connect despite their generational differences.

In the U.S.-produced film, Anne Hathaway played the female lead. Kim Do-young (Kim Ji-young, Born 1982) directs the remake, taking over the role originally held by Nancy Meyers (Something’s Gotta Give).

The new The Intern is set to open in South Korean theaters on September 16.
