Pokémon TCG-Focused Film 'Pokémon: Wild Card' Gets Teaser and Poster
The movie was announced during the Pokémon World Championships finals.
A new Pokémon movie is on the way: Pokémon: Wild Card, which will focus on a TCG player, was announced during the World Championships finals, a tournament that brings together the franchise’s top competitive categories. The feature film will hit theaters starting in 2027, ending a seven-year hiatus for the little monsters on the big screen; watch the teaser.
Major story details have not been revealed, but it is known that the Pokémon Mimikyu will play a major role—since it is the only one to appear in the trailer. The protagonist shares similar themes with the creature, wearing a hood in the same color.
In addition, Wild Card will be animated by studio CloverWorks, whose most notable work in recent years includes the two seasons of Spy x Family.
Wild Card, of course, is expected to capitalize on the recent craze that Pokémon TCG has become. Cards have started reaching million-dollar prices, and even buying simple booster packs has become a complicated task due to high demand.
