God of War Laufey, which was scheduled for release on February 16, 2027, has been delayed by three months to May 20, 2027.
Santa Monica Studio, responsible for developing the game, issued a statement on Wednesday (4) about the matter, claiming that the postponement will give professionals more time to finalize the product.
"Since the reveal of God of War Laufey in June, we have been deeply grateful to see so much excitement for Faye's journey through Everywhen. We don't take for granted the trust placed in the studio to make an extraordinary experience worthy of the passion and dedication of our fans", they wrote.
"With this in mind, we have made the decision to delay God of War Laufey's release to May 20, 2027" the text continued. "We will make the most of each moment until then by putting in the finishing touches and pushing the game to its full potential. On behalf of everyone on the team, we appreciate your patience and we will be back to share more updates soon".
The title puts players in control of Faye, Kratos' wife, in a brand new adventure set shortly after the events of God of War (2018), when the protagonist fulfills his wife's last wish by scattering her ashes.

Everything you need to know about God of War Laufey
In the story, Faye awakens in Everywhen, the afterlife of the gods, and encounters Sekhmet and Begtse, two Gods of War who rule the place and attempt to control a corrupt kingdom. The new game also promises to recapture the hack-and-slash style of the franchise's early titles, with fast-paced combat, aerial combos, and the assistance of the characters Phranque and Rue throughout the journey.
The title will be released exclusively for PlayStation 5.
