'Jessica Jones' Creator to Write New Series About Anti-Heroine

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Brian Michael Bendis revealed his return to Marvel Comics with Jessica Jones: Alias, a five-issue miniseries arriving on December 23rd.

The Eisner Award-winning writer reunites with artist Michael Gaydos, with whom he created the character in Alias ​​#1 in 2001. David Mack, responsible for the covers of the original comic and the opening titles of the Netflix series, is responsible for the cover of this new phase.

The plot begins when Jessica is tasked with locating a missing child with abilities, whom she suspects are mutants. "She can't help but feel what this would mean for her already complicated family dynamic with Luke Cage and the kids," said Bendis. "She takes on the case with the help of some friends, and it immediately shatters her life in every possible way."

Marvel reveals that Jessica will visit "the darkest and most bizarre corners of the Marvel universe." Bendis confirms that Latveria and the Savage Land are among the destinations. "She's going to a perfect place where a leather jacket is completely inappropriate, and that will take her even further."

The 25th anniversary of Jessica Jones' creation served as an occasion to reunite the team. For Bendis, the character has evolved along with its creators. "She's a very different Jessica Jones from the mess we presented 25 years ago in the first issue." The new series takes into account everything that has happened since then, including Luke Cage's election as mayor of New York.

Besides Jessica Jones, Bendis is working on other projects with Marvel. One of them, according to him, already has five issues drawn and is "the most beautiful thing." The writer describes his return as "carefully curated," with very concrete artistic statements.

It's worth remembering that Bendis has already been confirmed for CCXP26, which takes place in December, with a presence at Artist's Valley in partnership with Baú das HQs.
