'Glee' Reboot Coming to Life: Ryan Murphy Confirms First Script is Written
Showrunner confirms he's been in touch with a few of the original cast members.
Ryan Murphy is officially making his Glee reboot wishes come to life. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight during the premiere for American Horror Story season 13, the showrunner confirmed he had "just finished the script" right before attending the event. Check out the video below:
"Brad [Falchuck], Ian [Brennan] and I, who wrote all of the first two seasons, have written something", he revealed. "I have been in touch with around 10 of the original cast members. [...] They all had a lot of questions, but they were all very enthusiastic about the idea", said Murphy.
Although he didn't go as far as mentioning which actors he has in mind for a possible reboot, the focus on original cast members may point to Glee alumni Lea Michele, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Dianna Agron, Jane Lynch, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz and Matthew Morrison.
"I vowed to myself that I wanted to write a couple of them to see what people think. Particularly the cast, because we were very close when we were making it". he continued. He stated that none of the actors contacted have read the script yet, so there might be a few back-and-forth conversations before the final script ends up rolling.
This is the first concrete news Murphy has come forward with on the Glee reboot after his interview with The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year. In august, he said that it was "something to consider".
"For many, many people now in their 20s, they grew up on that show and it meant something to them. The music meant something. So, let’s kick it around and see what we get. It’s always about the story for me. What’s the story? Do I want to tell the story now? Sometimes I want to wait".

Glee premiered in 2009 on Fox and quickly became a cultural phenomenon. The series followed the experiences of the glee club at the fictional William McKinley High School in Ohio, and tackled themes such as identity, diversity, bullying, and acceptance through versions of major hit songs.
Across six seasons and more than 120 episodes, airing through 2015, the production launched dozens of actors, including Lea Michele, Darren Criss, and Chris Colfer. The series earned six Emmy Awards and four Golden Globes, in addition to breaking an Elvis Presley record by landing 113 songs on the Billboard Hot 100.
