Tom Holland Pushed For Florence Pugh Being in 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'
The actress revealed that Holland pushed for it in a red carpet interview.
Florence Pugh's standout participation in Spider-Man: Brand New Day wasn't decided out of nowhere. In fact, it was Tom Holland who directly stated that he wanted to act alongside her in a Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) feature.
The actress revealed during The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that Holland publicly asked for her to be in it. "This all happened because of Tom. Years ago, when I just kind of started my relationship with Marvel and ‘Black Widow’ had come out, my Yelena wasn’t as obviously big as all of the other big superheroes", she said.
"He, on the red carpet of his previous movie, when someone said, ‘Who do you want to be in the next movie with?… said, ‘No, actually, I want to do it with Florence Pugh, who plays Yelena.’ So because of that, fans were then so excited about the idea of it".

In addition to Tom Holland returning as the protagonist, Jacob Batalon will once again play Ned, and Zendaya returns for the new Spider-Man film as MJ. New additions to the cast include Sadie Sink (Stranger Things).
Another confirmed cast member is Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, marking the hero's debut in Marvel films. In addition, Mark Ruffalo is in the film as the Hulk.
Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) is directing the project. Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna, who wrote the screenplay for Spider-Man: No Way Home, are also responsible for the film.
